2002 Working and Mothering: Asian Women Negotiating Work Challenges and Family CommitmentsMy main research interests include gender issues in work and family, human capital development, and intergenerational relations. My recent works include: "Mothers as the Best Teachers: Japanese Motherhood and Early Childhood Education." in Women's Working Lives in East Asia, edited by Mary Brinton. Stanford University Press (2002), and "Gender, Generation, and Conflicting Values." Sophia. (Vol.50, No. 4) (in Japanese). The Center for Philosophical Anthropology at Sophia University, with which I am affiliated, offers courses in general education, as well as "Philosophical Anthropology," a required course for the first-year students, as a part of Christian educational mission of the Sophia University. It aims to help students understand the richness and the dignity of human life in the light of Christian faith. Other courses I teach are "Feminist Thoughts I, II," "Gender, Work and Family," "Society and Human Development," and a "Teaching Seminar on Gender Issues."(Subject of research)
