複数学科が履修可能な学部共通科目として、「地域実践フィールドワーク」の授業を担当し、過疎化の進む離島でのフィールドワークを中心とした実践的授業を行っている。

学部生向け演習授業において、毎回終了後に自己評価コメントをWeb掲示板に入力してもらい、互いにオープンな自己評価を行ってもらい、必要に応じて教員からフィードバックを提供している。これによって対面的やりとり以外の相互コミュニケーションの活発化にとどまらず、次回授業に向けての改善点の明確化や自発的な学習への動機付けを高めるように配慮している。

調査方法論にかんする講義のコースにおいて、リアクション・ペーパの執筆およびディスカッションを多く取り入れた授業運営を通じて、学生の意欲を高める工夫を採用している。具体的には、ドキュメンタリー映像を見せてその論評をディスカッション形式で行ったり、一部の学生が報告した調査結果に対する批評を執筆させたりすることで、調査方法論におけるポイントを具体例を通じて学生が理解する機会を与えるよう配慮している。

調査方法論にかんする講義のコースにおいて、学生の発表とディスカッションを行うことで、授業活性化を図る工夫を採用している。具体的には、受講学生の３割程度に対して授業での発表の機会を与え、報告内容をめぐって参加学生とのやりとりを行う機会を設けることで、学習意欲を高め、学生同士の交流が促進されるよう配慮している。
