The presenter introduces the East Asia Peace Ambassadors Project, which has been underway since 2020. The challenge is to create a society where the next generation in East Asia (Japan, China, and South Korea) will no longer say “so close, yet so far. The project aims to create a place where people can meet, understand, and cooperate with each other on an equal footing in order to “change the past relationship between each country and create the future,” and to create a society that is neither “near” nor “far. The materials on this website introduce the project and examples of “place creation. The project requires a balance of both expertise (knowledge of history, politics, etc.) and a soft approach (entertainment and culture). High school and university students seem to be more interested in the latter, softer angle. We are planning to edit and publish “Citizen's Discourse on the 80th Anniversary of the End of World War II.
