Early American Literature and Intellectual History (17th - 19th century) are my major study fields. I teach 19th century American Literature (Hawthorne, Thoreau, Emerson, Sedgwick and Henry James) in undergraduate classes and read primary texts from the Early American Intellectual and Religious History in graduate-school courses.

Apr, 2005 - Mar, 2013「米文学史」の授業ではNorton Anthology of American Literatureをテクストに用いて、19世紀半ばまでのアメリカ文学史を担当している。できるだけ英文の第一次資料に学生が接するように指導する。

Apr, 2005 - Mar, 2013「アメリカ文学講義」では文学に関するより深いテーマの掘り下げをおこなう。近年は19世紀ロマン主義、センチメンタリズムを取り上げている。キャノンの問題に触れながら、ジェンダーや人種と文学テクストとの関係について講義する。できるだけヴィジュアルな資料も合わせて提供できるようにハンドアウトに工夫をしている。

Apr, 1998 - Mar, 2013大学院セミナーでは17世紀〜18世紀のPuritanismに関する文献を中心に講読指導している。資料背景については、16世紀大陸宗教改革以降の歴史を講義し、この分野についての入門的な知識もあわせて得ることができるように工夫、宗教思想史上の専門用語や概念が理解できるように指導している。
