The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between internal motivation and job crafting used by employees engaged in high-autonomy jobs. Results (N = 246) showed that both job autonomy and job crafting had a statistically significant direct impact on employees' internal motivation. Likewise interaction effect between job autonomy and job crafting were also found to have significant effect on internal motivation. This result means that job autonomy actually has a direct albeit limited impact on employees' internal motivation. Our results suggest that job crafting can be an important factor for managers to consider when developing motivational strategies.
