実定法としての国際経済法の研究に従事しており、特にWTO協定及び主要国におけるその国内実施法を研究している。これまでの研究テーマは以下に別記のとおりだが、最近はCPTPPを中心に地域経済統合に関する法的規律、国際投資紛争にも関心を拡大している。
教育面では、実定法解釈学の側面を大事にしながら、学生に国際経済法の面白みを知ってもらえるよう努力している。特にWTO法は厳密な法的言辞に基づく論証が求められるところ、法的思考が重要であることを認識してもらいたい。

Future of Global Trade Order and Economic Security, Apr 16, 2024, RIETI/CEPR InvitedThe Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) and The Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) signed an MOU in 2014 and have co-hosted the symposium annually. This year's symposium will be held under the theme of "Future of Global Trade Order and Economic Security." As economic globalization is reversed by the U.S.-China confrontation and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the world trade order and economic security have become important themes in today's international community. The symposium will feature speakers including Dr. Beatrice WEDER di MAURO, Director of CEPR, Dr. Jeffrey SCHOTT of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Dr. URATA Shujiro, Chairman of RIETI among others. Participants will discuss how the EU and Japan can restore the troubled global trade order and how they can cooperate in economic security area.

Oct, 2007学部、大学院、ロースクール共に無料のブログサイトを利用し、ネット上で殆どの教材を配信している。特に大学院、ロースクールは少人数教育であるので、レポート提出等もメールを通じて行っている。

Oct, 2004学部・国際経済法の授業においては、比較的履修者数が少ないので、前任校（大阪大学）在籍以来法科大学院の準備運動を意識した授業を展開している。特に授業の中心となる世界貿易機関（WTO）協定は判例法によって発展しているので、配布物に判例評釈を多くし、授業中にソクラティックメソッドに準じて判例の内容や含意を問う機会を増やし、双方向的な授業のあり方の感覚を身に付けさせている。

Apr, 1996昨今の学生のノートテイキングの技量の低下を補完し、また講義に集中させるために、講義内容のエッセンスは毎回レジメ化して配布している。学生にはその余白に書き込みを入れることでレジメに沿って理解を進めるよう指導している。
