The purpose of this paper is to give a clear answer to the question of what sort of effect the restructuring of school knowledge and competency in the 21st century can have on socially subordinate groups, by referring to the fruits of what is called critical pedagogy in the US, and to examine some insights about primary and secondary education curricula and instruction there.

各教科に関する個別的・自立的な方法論の一つである単元内自由進度学習に関して、この学習の目的・目標、および内容面＝カリキュラムづくりの側面と、方法面＝実践上の留意点という側面、さらに、この学習の研究授業と事後検討会がどのように行われているのかを明らかにした上で、こうした授業実践の歴史的背景及び意義を整理した。

The purpose of this paper is to conduct a preliminary work for clarifying critical viewpoints toward the discussions on critical pedagogy by Henry Giroux, one of the representative researchers of critical educational studies in the US.

We reviewed the main points of Henry Giroux’s critical pedagogy and its criticisms by a couple of important educational theorists in the US in another paper titled “Some aspects of the critical educational studies in the United States of America (1): the critical reexamination of Henry Giroux (1st).” Here in this paper, we offer my own critical viewpoints to Giroux.

アメリカ合衆国において一般に批判的カリキュラム研究と呼ばれる業績群において、一つの大きな焦点となってきた問題がいわゆる社会的・文化的再生産論の問題であった。そこでは、支配的文化に対する「抵抗」および「民衆文化」の称揚という議論の方向性が提起されたわけだが、本稿は「再生産論」が本来持つ「両義的」観点から，この「抵抗論」を批判的に再検討しようとする試みである。

発展途上国における近代化過程は、その国が国際経済秩序の中へと再編される過程、つまり国際化過程と不可分である。この国際化過程と外国語教育の導入過程の関係を、タイを事例として具体的に考察した。タイの場合、時代的には日本の明治期と重なる近代化政策の一環としての官僚機構の近代化の開始時期に、とくにイギリスとの関係が密であったことで、英語教育の公教育への導入につながった。扱われる時代としては、ほぼアユタヤ王朝後期からラーマ五世王時代までである。
